Okay. I’m not going to lie. I freakin’ love online shopping. Especially stationery shopping. I find that there’s a much better variety online, and the prices are often much better, even with shipping. And frankly, everyone has to save money when they can, right?
One of the disadvantages though, is that you can’t pick up, hold and examine and item you’re looking at online. Although, I must admit that most of the time, I see an item in store and then go and check the prices online.
My boyfriend isn’t really a fan of online shopping. Sure, like most people, he likes the savings but he hates having to wait for things to arrive in the post. He’s very impatient. I, on the other hand, don’t mind waiting for things to arrive. It makes my life a little bit more exciting because, really, my life sort of sucks. I enjoy receiving letters through the post too, not just parcels. In fact, a letter can be more exciting because it’s more personal. Generally, any post I get can make my day a bit brighter. It’s a bit… Sad. A sorry state of affairs, really, but hey!
Anyway. I like online shopping. I always seem to find some really good stuff; items or deals or whatever. I find a lot of good presents for friends and family online. The first birthday present I bought Matt, as his girlfriend, was a) something he’d wanted for ages, b) something I won on eBay and c) a bargain. I bought him an original grey Game Boy, with a copy of Tetris. Damn, that took a long time to a) find and b) win. But it made him so happy so it was obviously very much worth it.
Online shopping isn’t for everyone. For stationery er… Enthusiasts like me sometimes getting things online is the only way to get them. Some of the products that hit America take ages to come out over here, if we get them at all, because we don’t always get everything. Or, for those of us who don’t have a local pen shop. And, I mean an actual pen shop, a specialist if you will, not just a section in an “almost everything” store. I’d love a local, specialist shop, and yet I don’t think the town I’m in has one. Most unfair. Even then, not many stores around here, perhaps four or five off of the top of my head, sell stationery and even then their ranges don’t change very often. I kind of have to resort to online to find anything new.
So, what about you guys? Do you prefer online shopping to going into a brick and mortar store or are you the other way around? Or do you do what I do and look at things in shops and then go and get them online if it’s cheaper? What are your thoughts – let me know in the comments!
Until next week.
